Biographical Summary
Mack was born in North Carolina, the youngest of six boys. His parents were Lebanese immigrants who changed the family name from Mouchal to Mack. A gifted athlete, Mack attended Duke University on a football scholarship and began working at a small brokerage house while still an undergraduate. A charismatic leader and brilliant dealmaker, Mack has had a tough time since late 2007 with the fortunes of Morgan Stanley turned sour along with most of the rest of the financial services industry. Mack retired from the CEO position on January 1, 2010 but remains Chairman.
