Biographical Summary
Back in 2005 when he was still CIO of the United States Army, Boutelle told an industry publication that he was building an "an IP, net-centric force" that would transform deploying units. Today he is working for Cisco Systems, the company that supplied a lot of the equipment that enabled his IP vision. As CEO of Cisco's Internet Routers in Space initiative IRIS), he is helping expand the company's footprint–and the power of the Internet–into celestial territory, integrating satellite systems and ground infrastructure to support widespread IP-based data, video, voice and mobile communications. Boutelle is also Vice President of Business Development for Cisco's Global Government Solutions Group (GGSG), where he advises government customers on business practices and technology solutions.
